Osteopenia – Musculoskeletal Disorder

Osteopenia is a musculoskeletal condition in which there is loss of bone mineral density (BMD) that weakens bones. The bones become weaker and brittle. If not treated osteopenia progresses to osteoporosis. Musculoskeletal disorders affect bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments and the risk of developing them increases with age.

  • Healthy diet is the most important way to maintain good bone health. Eat foods rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc and essential nutrients like dark greens, brown rice, millets, nuts and seeds like pumpkin, sunflower, flaxseeds, chia seeds, tofu, legumes, turmeric, green tea
  • Stay hydrated with 10-12 glasses of water
  • Reduce intake of tobacco, alcohol, cola drinks and caffeine
  • Daily strength-training exercises like morning walks, cycling, swimming for 30 minutes
  • Sujok Therapy:
    1. Massage the corresponding kidney points at the back of palm with probe or fingers for a minute, 4 times daily (as shown in Pic 1)
    2. Apply kidney beans (rajma) on the stimulated points daily at night (as shown in Pic 2)

Trigger Finger condition

If there is swelling in the fingers, then do not wait long

Stenosing Tenosynovitis commonly known as Trigger finger is a condition in which a finger gets locked if we try to straighten or bend it. It can affect any of the fingers.

What is Trigger finger?

Bands of tissue called pulleys attach finger bone to flexor tendons, and together they are responsible for movement of fingers. Trigger finger occurs when there is inflammation or scarring in these pulleys and in or around the tendon sheath of flexor tendons. This results in the finger’s inability to move smoothly and there can be pain, stiffness, swelling and trouble flexing the finger.

Risk factors

  • Occupation involving repetitive hand movements and continuous periods of gripping
  • Underlying health issues like diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis

At our `Monisha’s Mantra`; we have treated and helped individuals toget rid of their Trigger Finger Condition in the following manner, without Medicine and without any Side-effect.

  • Daily practice simple stretching exercises of hand and fingers to strengthen the muscles around flexor tendons which reduces pain and stiffness
  • Sujok therapy:
    1. Acupressure – Twist all 3 joints of the trigger finger clockwise-anticlockwise for a minute, 4 times daily (as shown in Pic 1)
    2. Seed therapy – Apply a line of fenugreek seeds (methi) on the painful joint of finger daily at night (as shown in Pic 2)

Research has shown that there is no cure for Fibromyalgia, but at our `Monisha’s Mantra, we have helped individuals, to reverse their painful fibromyalgia condition without Medicine and without any side-effect; in the following manner:

  • Regular simple exercises like walking and swimming helps in reducing muscle pain and improves physical activity
  • Daily practice Smile Taiji, a dynamic meditation which involves gentle, flowing movements incorporated with breath. It reduces not only physical symptoms but also helps in de-stressing
  • Practicing the yoga-Tadasana pose twice daily is very helpful
  • Eat healthy alkaline and anti-inflammatory foods like greens, fruits, nuts, seeds, vegetable khichdi and drink turmeric-green tea.

Pain in Wrist, Hand and Fingers

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful progressive disorder of the wrist, hand and forearm. If left untreated it can lead to permanent dysfunction of hand, including loss of sensation in fingers.

What is Carpal tunnel syndrome?

The median nerve is one of the main nerves in hand located on palm side in the carpal tunnel. Median nerve provides sensation and movement to thumb, index, middle and ring fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the tunnel is narrowed due to swelling. This compresses the median nerve resulting in the following symptoms:

  • Excruciating pain and numbness
  • Loss of grip strength
  • Burning and tingling sensation
  • Weakness in hand and forearm

Risk factors

  • Repetitive movements and pressure on wrist
  • Trauma or fracture of wrist
  • Health issues like diabetes, thyroid disorders, kidney failure, rheumatism, hypertension

At our `Monisha’s Mantra`, we have helped many individuals to treat their carpal tunnel syndrome without any Medicine and without Surgery in following manner:

  • Anti-inflammatory diet is very important to reduce inflammation and so avoid refined sugars, sodas, white flour breads, fried foods, beef, pork,  argarine, salty foods and reduce intake of alcohol and tobacco
  • Regularly drink green tea with pinch of turmeric and pepper
  • Regularly do simple hand and wrist exercises
