What is Prediabetes?

Prediabetes is a condition when blood sugar levels are above normal but below diabetes thresholds. It is a high risk factor for developing
diabetes.

  • Excess intake of refined carbohydrates, processed meat and trans fats

What is diabetes?
Our pancreas produces the hormone insulin which acts like a key to let the blood sugar enter into your cells for use of energy. Diabetes occurs when body doesn’t use insulin properly resulting in increase in blood sugar levels.

Types

  • Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune reaction that stops pancreas
    from making insulin. 5-10% people suffer from type 1 diabetes,
    common amongst children and teenagers.
  • Type 2 Diabetes occurs when body becomes insulin resistant. 90%
    of people have type 2 diabetes which is basically due to lifestyle
    and genetic factors.
  • Gestational Diabetes occurs during pregnancy due to hormonal
    imbalance and goes away after delivery.

At our `Monisha`s Mantra`, we have been successfully treating and reversing Diabetes, with following ways :-

  • Dietary change is the most important way to reverse diabetes. Eat more fiber which helps in slow release of sugar in blood. It is present in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, millets
  • Stay well hydrated

Morning Sickness during Pregnancy

Are you troubled by Morning Sickness??

It’s a woman’s dream to become a mother and pregnancy is a beautiful phase in a woman’s life! But there are many problems that come along and one of the most common is the morning sickness condition of nausea and vomiting. It affects more than 70% of pregnant women during the first trimester. Morning sickness as the name suggests isn’t an exclusive condition of morning, the nausea and vomiting can happen any time of the day. The good news is that you can get relief naturally without medicine and enjoy the remaining period of the pregnancy.

At our `Monisha’s Mantra`, we have guided many pregnant women during their pregnancy to treat their morning sickness condition in the following manner, without taking Medcine and without any Side-effect:

  1. Stay hydrated by drinking liquids every hour to help you overcome the nausea and prevent dehydration. Avoid caffeinated
    and aerated drinks
  2. Eat small frequent portions of healthy meals throughout the day. Avoid fried, spicy, greasy and packaged foods
  3. Before eating meals chew small strips of salty ginger soaked in lemon juice
  4. Sujok (drugless Therapy)
    • Move Sujok ring on thumb of any hand with gentle pressure for 20-25 times, 4 times daily (as shown in Pic 1)
    • To stop vomiting apply bar magnet on first joint of inner side of thumb. The white part of magnet should face the tip, (as shown in Pic 2)

Back Pain during Pregnancy

Are you troubled by the problem of back pain in Pregnancy ?

Back pain during pregnancy affects more than 50% women, typically starting from the second trimester. The pain is generally in the lumbar area or in the posterior pelvic region, that is near the tail bone.

Causes

  • Additional weight gain – spine has to support the extra weight of baby and developing pregnancy thus putting pressure on lower back
  • Posture changes and excessive standing or sitting
  • Increase of hormone relaxin during pregnancy helps pelvic area ligaments and joints to soften and loosen in preparation for labor. This results in strain and pressure in lower back area
  • Stress
  • Muscle separation – As the uterus grows bigger, two parallel sheets of muscles running from rib cage to pubic bone separate along the center causing backache

At our `Monisha’s Mantra`, we have treated and helped many pregnant women, of their backache problem, without Painkillers without any Side-effect, in the following manner:

  • Stay physically active by regular walks, simple stretching exercises which helps in strengthening lower back muscles and also for easy normal delivery
  • Eat healthy because it ensures proper growth and development of fetus
  • Stay stress-free with Smile meditation and yoga-pranayama
  • Sujok Therapy:
    1. Acupressure – Gently massage the corresponding lower back area, at the back of hand with diagnostic probe or fingers or pen, pencil for a minute, 4 times daily (as shown in Pic 1)
    2. Seed Therapy – Apply a line of 7-8 buckwheat seeds (kuttu) or whole green gram (moong) on the stimulated corresponding back area (as shown in Pic 2)

Edema – (Swelling in lower Legs, Ankles and Feet in Pregnancy)

Painless swelling in Feet or Toes during pregnancy is not a disease but a sign of Disease

While you are enjoying your pregnancy there are some side-effects that are disturbing and uncomfortable and one of the most common is edema of lower extremities (swelling in legs, ankles and feet). It starts around the fifth month of pregnancy and can continue till the delivery.

Causes

  • During pregnancy extra blood and fluid is produced in the body to support baby’s growth. This slows down blood circulation and
    causes the blood to accumulate in lower extremities
  • The growth of baby in uterus can put extra pelvic pressure that prevents effective return of blood from the lower extremities
  • The pregnancy hormones relax the veins making blood circulation back to heart little difficult, resulting in swelling of legs, ankles
    and feet

At our `Monisha’s Mantra`, we have helped several pregnant women to reduce their edema of lower extremities in the following manner, without Medicine and without any Side-effect:

  • Limit salt and sugar intake by avoiding processed and junk foods
  • Stay hydrated to flush out excess sodium and fluids
  • Avoid standing or sitting for long period of time
  • While sitting and sleeping elevate the legs which helps in draining
    excess fluid from legs
  • Regular walks and simple stretching exercises improves blood circulation
  • Sujok Therapy:
    1. Seed Therapy – Daily at night apply fenugreek (methi) plaster around the middle toes with adhesive tape(as shown in Pic 1)
    2. Acupressure – Gently twist the middle toes of both feet corresponding to legs, clockwise-anticlockwise for a minute, 4 times daily (as shown in Pic 2)

PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

In India 20% of young women suffer from PCOS, an hormonal imbalance disorder. This condition not only causes problems like irregular, painful periods, weight gain, hair loss but can also lead to other health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, infertility, thyroid disorders, depression and mood swings.

Types

  • Insulin-resistant PCOS is most common
  • Pill-induced PCOS is the second most common
  • Inflammatory PCOS is due to inflammation in body which leads to hormonal imbalance causing excess androgen production and
    prevents ovulation
  • Adrenal PCOS is due to abnormal stress response

Causes of PCOS

  • Excess insulin
  • Low-grade inflammation
  • Excess androgens (male sex hormones)
  • Heredity
  • Obesity
